Under the aegis of Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, President of Al-Zahraa University for Women, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Noor Al-Dabbagh, Dean of Pharmacy Faculty, an educational awareness raising workshop was organized on the stability of liquid pharmaceutical dosages after mixing intravenous or intramuscular solutions. The said event was held by the University’s Pharmacy Faculty in cooperation with Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Division.
Lect. Dr. Diaa Raheem Al-Tamimi presented the session, addressing key challenges and offering recommendations regarding the post-mixing stability of medications. He also emphasized the crucial need to prevent instability or degradation, which could adversely affect patient safety.
The workshop also highlighted the essential role pharmacists play as the primary pharmaceutical experts globally, with special focus on soliciting their guidance and advice on mixing liquid drug dosages in IV fluids or with other medications. Additionally, participants gained insights into potential risks, contributing factors, evaluation methods, as well as best practices for ensuring safe and effective drug compatibility.
