Applied clinical assessment reinforces academic quality standards for pharmacy students

Students from the College of Pharmacy at Al-Zahraa University for Girls took the OSCE exam, one of the most widely used practical assessment methods in medical and pharmacy colleges worldwide, in a step aimed at raising the level of clinical competence and enhancing the practical aspect of the educational process.

The exam was conducted through a series of short clinical stations that simulated a real professional work environment, and varied between tests related to handling medical devices, evaluating diagnostic skills, in addition to simulating situations that require effective communication with patients and making accurate treatment decisions.

The application of the OSCE model is a qualitative leap in university assessment methods, as it allows for the measurement of practical and behavioral skills alongside theoretical knowledge, and enhances the ability of graduates to integrate smoothly into the pharmaceutical and health work environment in a better way.

Professor Dr. Nour Hatif Al-Dabbagh, Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Al-Zahraa University for Girls, confirmed that this type of examination in the academic track comes within the university’s vision aimed at modernizing curricula and applying global quality standards, in line with the development taking place in pharmaceutical education.

This academic distinction, with the College of Pharmacy achieving first place in the Ministry’s assessment exams for the 2024–2025 academic year, allows it to maintain its leading position among private colleges in Iraq for the second consecutive year. This accomplishment reflects the college’s continuous efforts to build a comprehensive educational system, prepared to supply the labor market with professional and qualified pharmacy graduates capable of providing services with advanced and high-quality standards.

The College of Pharmacy at Al-Zahraa University for Girls is one of the most important colleges that provides pharmaceutical education that keeps pace with global scientific development, thus meeting the requirements of higher education in Iraq, and enhancing the college’s position among colleges at the local and regional levels.
