Lect. Dr. Asmaa Abd Al-Aziz Mohammed, a Pharmacy Faculty member at Al-Zahraa University for Women, has published a research study in the international journal “Journal of Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Research”. The study investigates the use of natural disintegrates to improve the disintegration of pharmaceutical tablets and accelerate drug release.

The research underscores the importance of tablet disintegration as a critical factor in drug absorption and therapeutic efficacy. Hence, researchers are striving to explore such natural disintegrates as gums, mucilage, as well as dried fruits. Dr. Asmaa notes that these natural excipients offer numerous benefits, including safety, affordability, availability, biocompatibility and non-irritant properties, which make them a promising alternatives to synthetic disintegrates.

In conclusion, the study suggests that incorporating natural disintegrates into pharmaceutical formulations can lead to the development of more effective and safer medications, thereby reinforcing the significance of natural components in modern pharmaceutical sciences.
