The College of Pharmacy organizes the annual Drugs and Medicinal Plants Exhibition to promote application and scientific research.
Under the guidance of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Nour Hatif Al-Dabbagh, the Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Plants Branch at the College of Pharmacy at Al-Zahraa University for Girls organized its annual exhibition specializing in plants and drugs that form the basis for a number of pharmaceutical industries and medical extracts.
The event witnessed wide participation from female teachers and students, in addition to the presence of a number of specialists in the fields of drugs and herbal pharmacy.
The exhibition included a display of dozens of plant samples that are used in the composition of medicines and therapeutic preparations, in addition to scientific models that illustrate the stages of extracting active ingredients, mechanisms for evaluating their quality, and the research methods adopted to determine their pharmaceutical properties.
The exhibition also included a special section explaining the clinical roles of some plants with advanced therapeutic uses, such as anti-inflammatories, antioxidant compounds, and immune system-supporting extracts.
The faculty members in the branch pointed out that this activity is part of the college’s plan to enhance the practical aspects of the curriculum and connect students with natural sources of medicine, stressing that understanding the medicinal properties of plants contributes to preparing qualified personnel capable of dealing with herbal preparations according to precise scientific principles.
The exhibition aims to raise scientific awareness about the importance of medicinal plants in the development of modern pharmaceutical industries, as well as to encourage female students to produce applied research in the field of drugs and plant extracts, in line with labor market requirements and global trends in the field of complementary medicine.
The college continues to organize many events annually, as a platform to showcase the students’ scientific output, and an opportunity to review the latest developments in the field of pharmacy and natural treatment production techniques.
