In accordance with the directions and vision of Al-Zahraa University for Women in spreading health culture and general awareness and urging the teaching staff and students to participate in aimed activities at addressing common problems in society, the College of Pharmacy held an educational seminar entitled: (The wrong use of medicines), as part of the activities of the Blessings of Muhammadiyah Lights Campaign Which is held by the Holy Hussein Shrine, under the supervision of the Health and University Education Authority, the Presidency of Al-Zahra University for Women , and the Deanship of the College of Pharmacy, on Saturday, at nine o’clock in the evening, on the Zoom platform.
The symposium was attended by the President of the University: Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, the Scientific Assistant: Prof. Dr. Zuhair Muhammad Jadoua, Mrs. Dean of the College of Pharmacy: Prof. M. Dr. Nour al-Dabbagh , the Dean assistants , a group of teachers at the College of Pharmacy / Al-Zahraa University for Women and other Iraqi universities.
The President of the University opened the symposium by blessing the participants on the occasion of the birth of the Mohammedan moons, wishing them Good luck in their efforts in serving the community and spreading health awareness.
Then, three axes were discussed within the symposium. In the first axis, the risks of misuse of anti-inflammatory drugs were discussed by specialized pharmacists Fatima Muhammad Saeed and Hajar Alaa. The axis began with information about the aforementioned drug group and included an explanation of the risks and ways to avoid them with correct use.
The specialized female pharmacists ( Hala Younis and Doaa Mohsen) dealt with the second axis, which is the dangers of misuse of antibiotics and the danger of this practice on the patient and society alike. A set of instructions were presented that must be taken into account when using the mentioned drug group.
While the third axis presented by specialized female pharmacists: Ayat Abdel-Khalek and Nour Zuhair, who dealt with the misuse of steroid drugs and the reasons leading to this practice and the future harms associated with it were highlighted.
The symposium concluded by asking some questions and participations from the audience about sick cases that suffered from misuse of medicines, and with the praise of the Deanship of the College of Pharmacy for the efforts made to spread the healthy medical culture.
